Safety Cadets - Glendale Police Department Cadets

The mission of the Glendale Police Department Cadets is to prepare our young adults for careers in law enforcement as sworn officers or non-sworn employees. Young adults from the age of 14.5 to 21 years of age participate in weekly meetings, community outreach programs, competitions, explorer / cadet academies, physical fitness programs, life skills training and various team building activities.
All activities are accomplished under the direction of Glendale Police Officers who serve as Unit Advisors. Every few months we take on new cadets which are based on attrition.
Some of the minimum qualifications are:
- Be between 14.5 and 20 years of age (can remain until 21 years of age)
- Have an excellent moral character
- No recent or excessive drug usage
- No recent or excessive criminal activity or serious driving infractions
- No gang affiliation
- Maintain a āCā average or higher while in school
- Must submit to a background check
- Hold yourself to the highest standard while at and away from the cadet unit.
