Hydrant Flushing
Category:
General Questions
From January to May of every year, the City of Glendale’s Water Services Department conducts routine preventative maintenance on the city’s water distribution system by opening water valves and fire hydrants and flushing water through the system.
Discharging water through the fire hydrants helps to remove silt and mineral deposits from the water pipes and is essential to maintaining the integrity of the city’s water distribution system. During the flushing process, Water Services System Technicians also check the fire hydrants to ensure proper water flow and effective operation.
