Additional solid waste containers can be requested by the resident for an additional $8.70 per container per month. Customers must keep the container for a minimum of three months once the container is delivered. Additional recycle containers are available at no additional charge. Pull Out service – Medical documentation required and on file. If approved, a sticker will be placed on the Solid Waste and Recycling containers to identify the service. Customer will be responsible for placing their containers in an accessible designated area. Solid Waste and Recycling drivers will be notified of the Pull-Out service orders on their daily routes. The Solid Waste and Recycling drivers will pull out the qualified customer’s containers, service them and return the containers back to the designated placement area. This is a courtesy service and no fee.
Residential solid waste and recycling collection will take place on all regularly-scheduled pick-up days, including all federal holidays, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
A 95-gallon container holds approximately 200 lbs. and/or 9 to 12 tall kitchen trash bags. Maricopa County regulations require that all trash must be bagged and tied before placing in the container and the lid must be closed. Recycling must be placed loose in the container and the lid must be closed. Over half of household waste is recyclable. Only place recycling container out for service when it is at least half full. Customers are responsible for cleaning their containers. Do not overfill your containers. Place containers out in front of your home, not the neighbors.
On collection day; place both containers curbside with the handle side facing the house one (1) foot from the curb, out in the street and at least three (3) feet apart from other containers or obstructions and 10 feet away from parked vehicles. Containers must be placed out for service by 6am on collection day & returned to private property by 6am the following day. Proper placement along the curb, in the street allows all pedestrians unrestricted access to the city sidewalks in the community, reducing the need for pedestrians to navigate around solid waste containers onto private property or city streets.
Glendale offers Household Hazardous Waste collections two times per year. Call (623)930-2660 to schedule an appointment. Customers with a past due balance on their account are not eligible for additional containers. On collection days the city asks that cars not be parked on the streets, especially in cul-de-sacs. Do not park within ten (10) feet of containers in need of service. If a container is inaccessible to a collection vehicle, it is the owner or occupant’s responsibility to move the container to an accessible and approved location for service. Containers that are blocked by vehicles may not be serviced until the next scheduled collection day. Solid Waste workers have a dangerous job, working all hours along busy streets and in tight spaces. We ask motorist to slow down and give a safe working distance. As a safety precaution, please keep children and pets away from our collection vehicles. Children and animals are attracted to large trucks, which is a safety concern for our drivers. Do not permit children to play near containers, especially on collection days.
